What is an MUN?
An MUN stands for Model United Nations. It is a simulation of real life United Nations and other organisations committees, where students come together to represent diplomats while debating important world issues according to the agenda set for the committee.
But, Why MUN?
Preparing and participating in a Model United Nations helps students develop leadership skills, research, writing, public speaking, and problem-solving skills. Moreover, coming up with solutions that are acceptable to a majority of the representatives also inculcates skills of negotiation, conflict resolution, and cooperation.
When is SMISMUN taking place?
31st July, 1st August, and 2nd August!
What is the dress code for the event?
The dress code is yet to be released and will be included in the Code of Conduct, which will be made available soon.
Who all can attend this event?
Anyone, from grades 8 to 12, can register and attend this event.
Will we provide any refunds?
Unfortunately no. After you pay and register for the event, no refunds shall be provided. If there are any issues with the payment kindly write to usgpolicy@sanctamaria.in.
Will lunch be provided?
There will be food stalls at the conference from which you can purchase food. School food will also be provided.
Is Transportation provided? How do I avail for it?
Yes, transportation is provided for all delegates for a small fee.

Will there be any cash prizes?
Yes! Cash prizes will be awarded to the most exceptional delegates and members of the International Press. Best Delegate will receive ₹8,000, while Outstanding Delegate will receive ₹4,000. For IP, Best Journalist will receive ₹8,000, Outstanding Journalist will receive ₹4,000, and Best Photojournalist will receive ₹4,000.
Will there be a Social Night?
Yes, absolutely! A Social Night event will be held on the second day of the event, on Saturday, 1st August. There, delegates can enjoy a night full of dance and music! The dress code will soon be released in the Code of Conduct.
What is International Press / IP?
Essentially, International Press (IP) Reporters serve as journalists for the Model United Nations (MUN). Two reporters will be assigned to each of the eight committees, where they will listen to the discussions and speeches of all delegates. In addition to this, IP members, like actual journalists, will be required to draft articles, op-eds, and other forms of writing that must be submitted on time. On the third day, reporters will also have the opportunity to question the delegates of their respective committees about the statements made over the past three days during a press conference. IP Photographers will be assigned to committees and will capture images of committee sessions and other gatherings of delegates throughout the three-day event.
Will IP Photographers be provided with cameras?
Unfortunately No. IP Photographers will not be provided with any cameras. If you are selected to be an IP photographer, please ensure you bring your own camera, or arrange to borrow or rent a DSLR/mirrorless camera before the event.

What should I prepare for to speak on my committee's agenda?
Find your country’s or person’s stance on the agenda and be thorough with your country’s policies ranging from tax to environment. Argue and defend your country’s position regarding the agenda and recent events that have taken place. For TFI, make sure you prepare on defending your character on the actions that have been done by your character in the movie.
On what basis are delegates awarded points?
Delegates are awarded points based on the content and quality of their speeches, amount participation in committee, points of information raised (where you question another delegate on wether the point or fact they stated is true or not), questions asked, understanding of agenda shown , impact in committee, paperwork, relevant chits sent to other delegates. Points are awarded based on discretion of the executive board.
What type of awards are given?
Best delegate (award and monetary prize and certificate), Outstanding delegate, Special Mention (only certificate), Best journalist, Outstanding journalist, Best photographer. All delegates are given a certificate of participation.
Do I need to create a position paper?
No.
What rounds are there?
Priority round, General round 1, and General round 2 (For both delegate and IP rounds).
